Throughout te ao Māori and Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa / the pacific, Hā represents breath, or to breathe, life, essence or to taste. This is often referred to as a force of ‘Mauri’ (inner life force), exchange of breath, or the ‘essence of life’ / invigoration.
Hā is batch roasted, weekly here in Otautahi / Christchurch.
The two guiding principles or values Hā is built on are:
Manaakitanga - care for our people
Whanaungatanga - family
We hope you feel some of this from your kapu / cup….
ka kite anō au i a tatou
The aim of Hā is to source coffee beans grown via indigenous farmers, roast them with clients, whanau, and café partners throughout Aotearoa / New Zealand, infusing manaakitanga into our roasted bean, through to the delivery of a Hā Kawhe to our clients / customers.
Whanaungatanga is then embedded in our training programme providing mentorship into the ultimate delivery of our roasted coffee via the roaster, espresso machines, and café partners. We aim to do this in partnership with the support of our café partners and clients.
